More day care pics

Nina went to Wag a Lot, her day care, today. I had a doctor's appointment at lunch and couldn't leave her home all day. So I checked the daily pics they take and look at that face!!!

Nina and Marco

Apparently there's this Marco stud at the day care that Nina loves. Pictures speak for themselves. She may need to change her relationship status on Facebook. Or maybe just put it's complicated, since there's also the great dane George, the neighbor's golden mix Bear, Bruce of course, etc.

Grandparents visit

My parents are here from Brazil and Nina is extremely excited about that. Mom is very much a dog person and had met her before. Dad is not so much and is new meat for her, so she follows him around a lot and it's pretty funny, but mostly she is sent out of the room he's in. Aww.
Every here and again he will pet her and give her attention, and then she is so happy!

Fun days by the pond

We have been having a great time around the neighborhood now that it's not extremely hot anymore. We walk, Nina refreshes herself at the pond and then crash on the bench. :)

Nina's updates

Nina is back in the crate, but probably not her fault. One day I left her in the crate and was supposed to come back in 4 hours but had an accident with my phone falling into the cracks into the elevator shaft and that put me behind a good few hours! And she did some damage! Nothing too bad, just a lot of work picking up pieces of DVD covers and magazines ripped, etc. Now my parents are coming and after their visit I will resume into letting her off crate for a few hours.

Today she had her friend London come over and she was so funny! London is about 4 and super well behaved. She likes Nina but isn't as playful as her. So the scene below was recurrent in my place till they both went watching the cars in the balcony and nap!

Too funny!

Off the crate!

Today was the 3rd day in a row that I left Nina home alone off the crate. I came back and she was waking up and the condo was exactly how I left it. Go Nina!

Happy barkday!

On August 3rd, 2011, Nina turned 1.

She's been such a fun company to have around, makes me laugh everyday. During the birthday week we had been going to work at Magick Lantern (doggie friendly production house I am a client of) and on her actually birthday I took her out for puppy ice cream after work (Lick-a-lots). She loved it. We went for a walk, but none of the neighborhood dogs were out, I could see she was a little disappointed. So I knocked at my neighbor's door to see if London (adorable pit mix Nina loves) could come over and play for a little bit.

Birthday was a success.

Happy 1st birthday, Nina!

Last month updates part 2

I came back from my trip, picked Nina up at Bia's and although she had the best time with Bruce, she was ready to come home and very very happy to see me (she peed!).

A week later I had to leave to Seattle for work for 3 days and she stayed at Wag a Lot. She loved it and came home super tired when I arrived. I missed my girl!

Now I am finally home for a while and enjoying the time with her.

She has been coming to work with me when I work out of this dog friendly production house. It's awesome and everyone loves here there, although she is a little jumpy and crazy.

We also go a lot to the dog park. She gets filthy!

She is also getting more cuddly. Before she wouldnt let me hold her much or lay close to me, now she does!

Our evening walks are nice too.

She hasnt been great off leash. Crossed the driveway a few times. So I am being careful with that.

We also started a new round of training, but had the first class and the next two were canceled. Bummer.

The focus now if for her to learn not to jump!

She is awesome though and makes me laugh every day!

Last month updates part 1 - Staying with Bia for 10 days

I have been traveling a lot. I was gone for 10 days to Brazil and Argentina and Nina stayed with my friend Bia. Bia is awesome! Always willing to help. She has a big house, big backyard, two grown up sons and, more importantly, Bruce, a boxer great dane mix, who couldn't be any sweeter and playful.

In the first night Nina was very confused as to why she would sleep there and was restless, cried, looked for me. From the second night on, she was happy and fine. She and Bruce were inseparable! And apparently the house family grown to love her too. They didn't wanna give her back to me, they said. I thought of moving in. :)

Bia's sons loved picking Nina up like a baby. They thought it was hysterical, and it is. She looks like she has no idea of what's going on. Haha

Baby Nina

I am very behind on this blog.
I need to write about my trip and 10 days away from Nina. And more importantly, the reencounter.
I also need to write about this awesome new dog park and how much fun she is having there.
And how I gave in and allowed her in my couch all weekend. With a blanket on top of it, but still.
But today I will just post a pic of her when she was a baby. Way before we met. She is the second from left to right. So cute!

Bath and pond

Her fresh out of the shower look only lasted a day.

So after taking Nina yesterday for a "fancy bath puppy plus deluxe", today she takes off when we were downstairs and she goes down to the neighborhood pond and jumps on it.
Nice!

Life is Tough at Doggy Day Care

My spoiled girl goes to doggy day care once a week. She loves it and I get the day off duty, since I have lunch time to myself and don't need to exercise her at night. She pretty much passes out.

This picture was at the day care website today. Get a job, Nina!

PS: she goes to Wag A Lot and I highly recommend that place, for day care and boarding. :)

More beach pictures!

Nina goes to the beach!

Took Nina to the beach. She loved it SO MUCH! As soon as we'd get to the sand, she would start hop instead of walking! My bunny! And she loved to get her paws wet and her face in the water. The roll on the sand of course!

exhausted on the drive back home!

Fight and ripped toy

Last week Nina got into a fight for the first time at Park Grounds. This aggressive little dog attacked her and they went at it. It was quite a commotion and I freaked out. In the end we were able to separate them and she came home with a few scratches and a bite under her arm.

And last night she ripped a toy for the first time. She was loving chewing on the stuffing. RIP Little Cow. :)

Doggy Kissing Booth

This past sunday Nina 'volunteered" at the doggy kissing booth at the opening of the Grant Park Farmers Market. She only stayed there for a few minutes, but proved herself to be a very good kisser!
The little girl in most pictures is Mena, the adorable daughter of my friend Kim, who loves dogs!

9 Months!

Nina is becoming a little girl!

She turns 9 months today and has been an awesome pup. She's so happy, playful, curious and funny.
We have a lot of nice dogs around the neighborhood and amongst her favorites are Tosca, London and a new friend, Yogi, a super sweet rottweiler mix. The 4 of them played a lot last night, which made it for a very tired Nina.

Happy 3/4 birthday, Nininha! :)

Royal Wedding

Grandma's visit

So Nina's grandma came to visit and they instantly became best friends.
In the first days Nina would lay on mom's feet no matter where she was, standing or sitting, in the house.
In the car she would be in the backseat but put her front legs in between the driver and passenger's seat to have her face close to mom's. Then she started resting her paw on mom's shoulder while I drove. Pretty cute.
I did wake up one day to the sight of Nina sleeping with mom in her bed. Mom swears it was just for a little bit that morning.
Note that Nina also touches mom's foot with hers

This is

This is my favorite: they were looking at a squirrel!

Play!

Nina has been playing a bunch with the neighborhood dogs. Here she's getting down with her BFF Georgi Blu and a pug puppy, Charlie!
